ok my mom just came back from korea/australia. and the korean's have invited her back for december and she's able to bring one person. sooo now i have a choice between korea and rome. i dont know which i want cuz they're both sooo cool!!
part of me reeeally wants to go to korea however it has three cons agaisnt it while rome has none. the cones would be..1)food wise, my mom said i would never be able to survive. im very picky and she said they eat everything i hate! 2)im going to panama in december too, so i would only have 1 week in between the trips. 3)ive missed 4 days of school...if i got to korea i can only miss 5 more days without having to lose credit, so it would take the rest of my days.
while i can live with all that. like i can force down the food...and you know who cares bout attendance neways....but rome has nothing going against it so it seems like the better choice.
what do you think??? does korea sound good? would you go to korea?? rome? help!!

Hmmm.
Korea? or Rome?
LOL, I could do this allll night.
Anyway, I've always always ALWAYS wanted to go to Rome, so my choice would be biased anyway.
(Guess if you couldn't tell already, I'd pick Rome.)

Since I'm adopted from Korea but grew up in Sweden, I have a Korean face but a Swedish mind. Therefore, I think I can give a pretty two-sided view of Korea. ^.^
I made a small trip back to Korea in 1998 (I think) when I was 12 and was able to travel around and try some of the korean specialities.
Judging from my own experience, the travel there is mostly the biggest problem. But that can be because I tend to suffer from travelsickness.
If you're staying in Seoul, there are easily many good places to go.
There's lots of Italian pasta houses, vestern restaurants and even KFC and McDonalds.
Namdaemun market is a must-see, but bring a compass. I think there's about 5000 stores in an area smaller than a mall.
Also, Lotte Hotel, Korea Folk Villade and Ittaewon is great for visits.
As for food, well, I'm quite picky (and I'm not too happy about seafood,) but I still found some things to eat. If eating out, I recommend Bulgogi or bibimbap.
Stay away from the vegetarian pancakes. They're the same size as a piza, you eat them with chopsticks and they taste like broccoly.
Also, never ever drink sweet peachjuice from a can. ^.^
Be careful with red pepper sauce. (It looks like ketchup but burns off your tastebuds in two seconds flat.)
If food is a problem, try going to a korean restaurant, before you decide.
The biggest, what was it?.. cone? I can think of about korea is the language and streetsigns.
I can read in Korean, (but I have no idea what I'm saying) which helped me and my mom a bit, but since there are lots and lots of American soldiers in Seoul, (one helped us find the war museum ^.^) I think you can get by with English.
As for school? Well, that's up to you. Do you feel yourself that you 'll be able to catch up?
I've neve been to Rome, (I've been in France, though and I hear they're a bit simmilar) so I can't really help here. But, I've always liked to go to Italy too... (decisions, decisions.)
Ok, that's probably not hepling.
I'll shut up now.
Good luck with your choice.
Wherever you end up, I'm sure you'll have a great time. ^.^

O_O
Korea...
The noly place in Asia I've been is India...and my main objectives are Japan, China and Korea.
Biased much?
Somehow Korea seems more appealing than Rome, but maybe that's because for me it's much easier to get to Rome than Korea (although not THAT easy... 'm dirt poor *sulks*), living in Sweden and all.
Well, considering pros and cons, I think you have to consider the main factor, which has been mentioned before.
Korean bishies! *nosebleed*
So, sue me, but I still think Korea would be the ideal choice. The decision is up to you.

hmm..I'm biased here..I've always wanted to go to korea... ^^;; but rome's not bad too... I think... (never been to both place before, but had made some research for korea)
the food? if you like japanese food and chinese food, you'll be okay I think (korean food's similar to the combination of both,in my opinion)
...you can get a good fashion bargain in korea too (if you know the place to shop) ...their fashion style is not far from the japanese teenagers^^
and remember...look for dark-haired,asian bishieeeee xDDD

everything is opened... there's karaoke, pool, and oh yeah.. there's a lot of weird people too. haha.. they'll just come up and ask if you want to chill for day and if you agree then you go out for a day and split the next. something like that... i duno about some people but some has bad experiences but many people have fun. there's just lots of places to see and to go to.
i haven't been to rome so i wouldn't know... so yeah... i want to go to rome!! i heard it's beautiful over there. so yeah... hehe...

Hrm. I would suggest Roma. (Rome in Latin...UGH, I HATED LATIN.) I mean, there's tons of history that's there, and when you're there, it's just feels really different. And of course, the muesums with all the great Italian paintings are a added bonus, and I think you can ride out of Rome to Pompeii and Hearcules and check out what Mt. Vesavius did to those towns in person, I hear it's always much more profound in person than in the books or on TV. And youc ould also check out that huge painting on the ceiling in the old catherdral that Michaelngo did....The Sistine Catherdral? And there's the Vatcian near Rome.... That'd be interesting, as well. I've heard a lot about Rome, and from what I hear, it's just like you HAVE to go there to get the sense of what they were talking about....I would love to go to Rome someday...after Japan, China, and England/Ireland. xD
